So here in the UK it's valentines day in 6 hours. As its fast approaching it gives me time to reflect on the changes in my life that have taken place since last Valentines day. A lot has changed some good and some bad. Last year at this time I had no job, no money, no websites, blogs or any experience in anything like this. I did however have a girlfriend. In May 2011 I finally got my big break and managed to get a job which is very tough in the current economic climate in the UK. In September 2011 I started blogging, about a month later I started building fully fledged websites, learning SEO, server configurations, domain name systems and lots more. I now know just about everything there is to know about building websites, SEO and much more and only started learning about 4 months ago. I've developed my skills in web development very quickly and can only keep learning. So many people are alone on valentines day and it can be upsetting, but after looking at how things were a year ago I have so much more now than I did have last year. I have my job, my web development skills, money and a better social life. Yes I will be alone but I'm happy with that, patience is a virtue and when it comes to love you just have to remember that it happens when you least expect it. Be patient and never give up, have a little look at how things have changed in the last year and embrace all the new things you've learned in life. There's someone for everyone and it's all just about waiting for them to come along, you'll know when it happens! 1 Comment Did you ever see the Matrix films? The Darkweb is a part of the internet that can’t be accessed by the general public and can’t be found in search engines like Google. It’s a secret part of the internet that can only be accessed by a certain network of people. The Darkweb although pretty secretive is almost 5 times bigger than the whole of the public internet and filled with lots more information useful for hackers, researchers and scientists alike. Although it does have it’s useful points there’s also much darker parts of the Darkweb, prostitution rings, hackers, drug dealing websites and assassins for hire. It can be a very dangerous place which is why staying anonymous and never giving away your details is highly important, we’re talking about the sickest people around as well as some of the best hackers on the planet. You must connect through a proxy and then connect to the Tor network. You can connect to the Tor network by using a web browser plugin or the Incognito OS ‘Tails’ which is used by the armed forces etc when they need a secure encrytped connection. I would type up a guide and although there isn’t much about it on the internet at all I’ve found a great post on a forum about it. Before connecting to the Darkweb and discovering the secret internet 5 times bigger than the ‘surface internet’ please be sure to read up on the following very thoroughly.
If you still need help after reading these articles then feel free to drop me a message or comment in the section below. This was originally posted here - http://bit.ly/zbACh6 I’ve opened up my own email service, @ttfl.info which is much shorter than many others and because it’s fairly new most names are still available. One letter users are also accepted such as j@ttfl.info. I don’t restrict you on how many letters etc! It’s also built on top of and powered by Hotmail meaning you can also use it for MSN IM, unlike others who falsely claim this, I can guarantee it will be compatible due to extra SRV records I added to the domain. A no account deletion guarantee is also offered. To sign up visit www.ttfl.info or use the sign up box on the blog sidebar. Thanks! Today we see a new author join us at Findingnino. Jay Hahn has joined us as a blogger after responding to our advert on Weebly. Jay Hahn is currently a freelance writer at his own site http://newdayspeace.weebly.com. Jay enjoys blogging and will be great for Findingnino. You can read his latest posts along at www.findingnino.com/jay-hahn.html. His first post will be ready at 9PM tonight US pacific time 17th January 2012. Other changes: I am now the site manager and will be working to improve the site by adding new features and snap up some new authors. Naino is still heavily involved as he's the Founder. Naino will deal with finding new authors while I maintain the site, after this we collaborate on what else we can do with the site. It's very much a joint task. After becoming site manager I've added a lot to improve the site. The chatroom enables visitors to socialize about anything they want in a safe private chatroom only accessible by visiting this site. I've also added one on one chat to my page for anyone who needs to contact us but needs a quick answer, this will also be added to Naino's page. The latest post RSS feeds page enables visitors to visit it and see if any of the authors have posted some new material without going through all the blogs one by one. It's like a quick mini view of all the authors latest posts in one easy page. I've done a full site backup tonight and will be doing that regularly so that the site can stay up should it ever become corrupted, go down or security be compromised. I've also set up a private server for use with the Findingnino, this means we will be able to provide larger file downloads for our visitors. A lot has been going on this week, I've revamped the site and Naino has brought on a new Author, things just keep getting better and the future only looks brighter for the whole Findingnino team and site! Today I will be performing a full site backup, if the site does go down it'll be back up within 5 minutes. After this the site will be backed up regularly. Tonight I've completely rebuilt Findingnino and added many features as well as tidied it up a bit, bearing in mind there's a lot of heavy development going on so you may run into some problems. I do believe however you wont, as I'm pretty good at what I do. This is what I've done: First I removed the Wibiya chat bar from the bottom of the pages as it made the site loading times very slow. I have however replaced this with our very own private chat room elsewhere. I then removed some adverts here and there but left some. I took the bit explaining findingnino off the homepage and gave it a dedicated page as well as the meet the editorial board section which now has it's own dedicated page. I then added a 'Latest post feeds' page which shows all the authors latest posts and updates them automatically, simply click on the post to read more. Added all of the authors to a drop down menu under 'The Authors' to save space on the top menu bar. I also put a brief description on the homepage that we're looking for authors and then when clicked readers can read more, after this they can then proceed to the final application form. The last step was adding a chat room, this was easy enough and then after that I gave the site a private chat room and registered it so nobody else can take it. This is all I've done for now but will hopefully be doing more soon So this is my first post in a while, infact it’s my first proper post in 2012! December was a busy month, I was down in England for 5 days for a new store opening at work. I had a great time. Then it was Christmas that I spent very hungover after drinking far too much the night before when I was out. I done pretty well for Christmas, lots of sweets and a new laptop. I also got myself a new contract phone a few days before. Then it was New year! Which believe it or not is my favorite time of the year, why? It’s my favorite because it’s the biggest party of the whole year, loud music, lots of people and a lot of alcohol. I went out to a pub/club where there was 480 people on the night, I spent lots of money and drunk lots of drink. When it closed at 3AM I staggered along to a party. In the first few days of January since I had a new laptop I converted my old desktop into an Ubuntu web server. I’m very experienced in Linux so this was a doddle, the new laptop is Windows 7 (for now). 2011: Well what can I say about 2011? It was a year of ups and downs, with a lot of happiness but also a lot of pain. I got the job I’m in now after spending almost a year jobless which was absolute hell. Getting my job was a huge weight off my shoulders and made life a lot easier for me as well as giving me some cash to spend. I turned 19 this year and realised that this is my last teenage year. Quite saddened that it’s went so quickly but there’s still a lot more fun to come! Possibly the biggest thing that happened in 2011 was splitting up with my girlfriend. We were together for 2 years and we split up a few days after I hit 19 but also on our 2 year anniversary. I did love her a lot and we had great times together along with memories that will stay with me forever. It knocked me back quite a bit after it happened but I made sure it didn’t affect my work. I shut down my old Linux website a few days later and refused to talk to anyone. It’s safe to say I’ve recovered well, have got back back into working with my websites and done nothing but advance in my job. I also drink, party, see my friends and get out more often and plan to do so much more in 2012! I also have plans for more website work and one other thing that I’ve always wanted to do! So yeah, 2011 had it’s ups and downs but it’s ended well and things can only get better in 2012! 2012: Most people have a new years resolution; although I wouldn’t say I have a resolution as such there’s a few things I’d like to achieve in 2012. The first thing I’d like to achieve is work related, I’ll work as hard as I can in my management training and hopefully get offered a supervisor or management position, if not I can leave with the training under my belt and get a good job elsewhere. The second thing I’d like to do is laugh more and party harder and more often. I didn’t do enough of this in 2011 so would like to make the most of being single while I am. The third thing I’d like to do is blog more often, maybe rebuild this site or blog, get involved with more web projects and build new websites. The fourth thing I’d like to do is to continue to learn something new everyday like I do now. The final thing I’d like to do in 2012 is to build my own Linux based distribution, I can produce websites professionally and feel with my knowledge, background and experience with Linux I could build a nice, clean, snappy and productive OS. More about this coming soon! It’s good to be back, you can expect much more posts and development from me this year! Happy New Year! Okay, so you have a domain and a fully operational website. However you'd like to give your administrators, bloggers and other staff members an email address to use? Look no further, I will teach you the quickest, easiest and most reliable way to build a powerful and flexible email service. If you have a domain and a website you must then know how to add 'A' and 'CNAME' records to your DNS. For the email service we're going to use a new type of record, an 'MX' record and possibly an 'SRV' record (you may need to contact your registrar to implement this). You must already have a Hotmail account to do this (your current account will act as an admin account). If you don't have one please head along to hotmail.com and get one before beginning this. Once you've signed up for Hotmail head along to domains.live.com. Step 1: Simply follow the registration process and you'll be greeted with your domains dashboard which will look something like this (I've blanked out my domain and MX server details): Note it says my service is active, yours will not be active. In the top section where it says 'Mail setup (required)' you have an MX record which will be where the red line is. This is the MX record you'll have to add to your domains DNS, so go ahead and copy this. Step 2: Head along to your registrar, login and access your domains control panel and add the MX record to your DNS. Please note you will have to wait a few hours, log back into domains.live.com after a few hours and check if your service has activated yet. Please allow up to 48 hours for this to take place. Step 3: After waiting some time (and drinking some coffee) your dashboard will eventually read service 'Active' and you can create accounts under your domain for staff members of your website to use. You can set a temporary password so that when they login they have to change it. If you're an admin testing the link please make sure you're completely signed out of all Hotmail accounts, otherwise the link will not work properly. Now you and your website staff have email you can use hotmail.com to sign in. I hope this quick and easy 3 step guide has enabled you to set up your email service correctly, if not please drop me a comment or an email at kristopher.maguire@findingnino.com and I'll help you resolve your issue. If you'd like to take it one step further and provide visitors with email under your domain please read part 2. PART 2 (Email for the masses!) Now that you've gave your staff members email under your domain you can also get a link or a graphic to post on your website so readers, visitors and members of the public can sign up to email services under your domain! Head along to your dashboard again and under 'Open Membership' click the 'Settings' button and switch it on (mines is already on): Then click 'Sign-up module' and you'll be greeted with this: This is your sign up module where you can make changes to your signing up graphic to place on your website (like a banner advert). Simply copy and paste the HTML onto your site to use the graphic after you've made your customizations, once this is done anyone will be able to sign up to your email services by clicking the banner. If you don't want to have a graphic and would prefer to just use a small and simple text link you can do so, your link will be in the exact same place above the red line as in the picture (once again I've blanked out my domain). You will need to copy and paste this link on to your site. When people click this link or small banner advert on your site they'll be taken to a Hotmail sign up page but for email under your domain, anybody anywhere with a computer can do it and you can watch the email service under your domain grow! Well hello there! I'm the latest addition to the Findingnino team and my name's Kristopher Maguire, I'm 19 and reside in the United Kingdom. I've been appointed as an author and web editor and have enough experience in the sector. I work full time in Retail, sometimes travelling all over the UK for business purposes but by night I'm a blogger at my home along at krismaguire.com where I share my ideas, thoughts and feelings and developments on a large number of topics. I've built Hotmail powered email services, blogs, huge websites, servers and much more! Now that I work full time I don't have as much time on my hands meaning blogging is perfect for me. Sometimes I just let it flow from the heart and other times it's carefully planned, structured and thought about for days before I publish it, it's all dependant on the mood I'm in. My blogging style is different and I've been told it's an interesting balance between personal stuff and technical stuff. I suppose I'll leave that for you readers to decide. More coming soon, in the mean time feel free to contact me: Kristopher Maguire, Findingnino Article Author/Web Editor Email - kristopher.maguire@findingnino.com |
